Website Speed Test, Explained Properly

Run Google’s Lighthouse test, then see the few fixes most likely to matter, who normally owns them and how difficult they are. Free, no sign-up and no invented revenue-loss claims.

We send this public URL to Google PageSpeed through Uppercut’s server. We do not save it or turn it into a lead.

Material opportunities will be ranked by measured time or byte savings. Zero-impact warnings stay out of the queue.

Four Rules For Useful Speed Tests

The number is not the diagnosis. Use the evidence without turning one simulated load into a business forecast.

  1. 1

    Start with mobile

Most sites have a harder time on a simulated mobile connection. Fix that experience before celebrating a desktop score.

  2. 2

    Use savings, not noise

Prioritise opportunities with measured time or byte savings. A failed audit with no material impact is not automatically urgent.

  3. 3

    Separate lab from field

A Lighthouse run explains one controlled load. Real-user Core Web Vitals describe a distribution of actual visits.

  4. 4

    Retest after one change

Change a bounded group of files, purge caches and run the same device test again. That is how you learn what moved the result.

Website Speed Test Questions

Is this the same as Google PageSpeed Insights?

Not exactly. The measurements come from Google’s PageSpeed Insights API, but this tool reduces the report to the evidence and practical fixes a business owner or marketer can act on.

Why can the score change between tests?

A Lighthouse run is a controlled lab test, but hosting load, third-party scripts, routing and page changes can still move the result. Treat one run as evidence, not a permanent grade.

What is the difference between lab and field data?

Lab data is a fresh simulated test. Field data is aggregated real-user experience collected by Chrome when enough data exists. This tool labels them separately and never invents field data when Google does not return it.

Does a good score guarantee better rankings or more sales?

No. Speed supports user experience and technical quality, but it does not guarantee rankings, enquiries or revenue. Content, intent, authority and the offer still matter.

Does Uppercut save the URL I test?

No. The public URL is sent to Google PageSpeed through Uppercut’s server for the test and is not stored or added to a lead form.

Should I test only my homepage?

No. This tool tests the public URL you enter, so a homepage result does not describe every page on the site. Check important service, product or article pages separately, especially where they use different images, scripts or layouts. Use the same mobile or desktop setting when comparing a page before and after a change so the comparison stays useful.

Need The Fixes Prioritised And Shipped?

We can trace the slow path, confirm what is actually unused and implement the changes without breaking the page that already converts.
