Businesses come to us with a remarketing campaign that has run for years, showing one banner to every visitor, including the people who already bought.
View Case StudiesWHAT A REMARKETING AGENCY DOES
Following Everyone Is Cheap. Following The Right People Pays.
Remarketing and retargeting are the same job under different platform names: showing ads to people who have already visited your website, watched your videos or bought from you. Google Ads calls it remarketing, while Meta, LinkedIn and most of the industry call it retargeting, so a retargeting agency and a remarketing agency sell the same thing. Good remarketing services are mostly decisions about who to leave out, how long anyone stays on a list and how often they see the ad.
Remarketing is less a separate channel than the second half of the ones you already run. Google Ads management and paid social ads bring the visitors in; Google Ads remarketing and Facebook retargeting bring back the ones who were close, and leave everyone else alone. Every audience, pixel and ad account we build stays in the client’s name.
Remarketing Across Google, YouTube, Meta And LinkedIn
Each network brings people back in a different place. We start where your visitors spend their time, and every platform gets the same buyer exclusions.
-
Display Remarketing
Banners across the Google Display Network for visitors who left, with a frequency cap and a short membership window.
Display ads agency -
Search Remarketing (RLSA)
Remarketing lists for search ads: higher bids, or broader keywords, only for people who already know your brand.
Google Ads agency -
Dynamic Remarketing
The products each shopper viewed, pulled from your Merchant Center feed or Meta catalogue, with recent buyers removed.
Google Shopping agency -
YouTube Remarketing
Video ads for people who visited your site or watched your channel, shown before the next video they pick.
YouTube Ads agency -
Meta Retargeting
Facebook retargeting and Instagram ads for visitors, video viewers and engagers, fed by the pixel and Conversions API.
Facebook Ads agency -
LinkedIn Retargeting
Sponsored posts for people who visited your site, watched a video or opened a Lead Gen Form, for longer B2B deals.
LinkedIn Ads agency -

Tags, Consent And Exclusions Come With Every Account
GA4, Tag Manager, the Meta pixel, Consent Mode and buyer exclusions are fixed before any list is used.
PROSPECTING VS REMARKETING
Prospecting Ads Find New People. Remarketing Ads Finish The Sale.
Prospecting through PPC management fills the lists and remarketing works them, so most accounts need both, judged on different numbers.
Prospecting Ads
Search, social and video for new customers- Who sees the ad
- People who have never visited you
- Where the audience comes from
- Keywords, interests and platform targeting
- How big it can get
- As large as the budget can reach
- What the ad has to do
- Earn attention from a standing start
- The main risk
- Paying for reach that never converts
- Success metric
- New customers and cost per acquisition
Remarketing Ads
Audiences on Google, YouTube, Meta and LinkedIn- Who sees the ad
- People who visited, watched or bought
- Where the audience comes from
- Your tags, pixels and customer lists
- How big it can get
- Capped by your own traffic
- What the ad has to do
- Give a reason to come back and finish
- The main risk
- Paying for sales that would happen anyway
- Success metric
- Incremental sales against a holdout
Remarketing can't create demand. When traffic falls the lists shrink with it, so the two are planned together.
A Remarketing Process Built On Exclusions
-
01
Tags And Consent
GA4, Tag Manager, the Meta pixel with Conversions API, and Consent Mode are checked first, because a list built on a broken tag is smaller than it looks.
-
02
Segments And Windows
Visitors are split by what they did and how long ago. Each segment gets its own membership window, and anyone who bought or enquired is excluded.
-
03
Creative Sequences And Caps
A cart abandoner and a first-time reader get different ads. Frequency caps and rotating creative stop one banner following anybody around.
-
04
Holdout Tests And Reporting
Part of each audience is held back from the ads, so the Looker Studio report shows the sales remarketing added, not the ones it reached first.
AUDIENCE MEMBERSHIP WINDOWS
How Long Each Platform Keeps An Audience
Every platform lets people stay on a list far longer than most buying cycles last. Pick an audience to see its maximum, the window we usually start with and the trap to avoid.
Website Segments
Google Ads audiences built from the Google tag on your site, used on Search, Display and YouTube. A segment needs 100 active users in the last 30 days to serve.
- Maximum membership
- 540 days, with 30 days as the default
- What we usually set
- 7 to 30 days for carts and forms, up to 90 days for considered purchases
- Watch out for
- A new duration applies to everyone already on the segment, so shortening it removes people at once
Customer Match
Your customer emails and phone numbers, uploaded to Google Ads and matched to Google accounts, for win-backs, upsells and buyer exclusions.
- Maximum membership
- 540 days from when a member was added or refreshed, since April 2025
- What we usually set
- A fresh upload or CRM sync each month, with buyers kept as exclusions
- Watch out for
- A list needs 100 members added or updated in 540 days, so a stale upload stops serving
Meta Website
Custom audiences from the Meta pixel and Conversions API: page visitors, product viewers and people who added to cart, for Facebook and Instagram.
- Maximum membership
- 180 days for visitors, pages and most pixel events
- What we usually set
- 14 to 30 days for add to cart, 60 to 180 days for page visitors
- Watch out for
- Browser and iOS tracking limits shrink pixel-only lists, so Conversions API sends events too
Meta Purchases
Audiences built on the Purchase event, used to keep past buyers out of prospecting or to offer them the next product.
- Maximum membership
- 2 years (730 days) for purchase events
- What we usually set
- A long window as an exclusion, a short one for a repeat-sale offer
- Watch out for
- Meta moved existing 180-day purchase audiences to 730 days in May 2026, widening old exclusions
Matched Audiences from the LinkedIn Insight Tag, video views and Lead Gen Form opens. An audience needs 300 members before it can be used.
- Maximum membership
- A lookback of 365 days, 30 days at the shortest
- What we usually set
- 90 to 180 days, because B2B decisions take longer
- Watch out for
- Short lookbacks on a small site rarely reach 300 members, so segments are combined
Maximums checked in September 2026 against Google Ads Help, Meta Business Help and LinkedIn Marketing Solutions Help.

Rules we set

No site pixel needed
We report on
Site visits and conversions from viewers
Viewers are warm before they reach the site, and the audience keeps growing when a browser blocks the pixel.

Rules we set
Excluded from new-customer campaigns
Refreshed from the CRM
Separate repeat-sale budget
We report on
Repeat-purchase rate and customer lifetime value
Kept out of prospecting and given their own campaign, with the next product rather than the one they bought.
Every audience needs enough people to serve: 100 active users in 30 days on Google, 300 members on LinkedIn. Smaller sites start with customer lists and the one or two segments that fill fastest.

How Our Remarketing Pricing Works
Most of our paid media management retainers, remarketing included, are priced by scope, depending on the platforms and campaigns involved. The ad budget is paid to Google, Meta or LinkedIn directly on top, and remarketing is usually a small share of it, because an audience can only be as large as your traffic. We charge for scope, not a percentage of spend. No lock-in contracts, and every audience stays in your name. Fee range last checked against our current retainers in September 2026.
-
When Remarketing Is Not The Right Answer
Google will serve a list once it has 100 active users in 30 days, but that's the minimum to run, not the size where display remarketing earns its keep. A site with little traffic gets more from PPC management that brings new visitors, plus customer lists and search remarketing. And if the site can't convert the visitors it already has, bringing them back fails too, so the landing page gets fixed first.
-
Who We Are Not The Right Fit For
Anyone who wants view-through conversions or platform ROAS reported as the result. Businesses that want every visitor followed for months, whatever it does to the brand. Accounts where buyers can't be excluded because the conversion tracking won't be fixed. We would rather say no than run ads that follow people around.

Remarketing Agency Questions, Answered
The questions Australian businesses search before they hire a remarketing or retargeting agency.
What Is The Difference Between Remarketing And Retargeting?
There's no practical difference: both mean showing ads to people who already visited your website, watched your videos or bought from you. Google Ads calls it remarketing, while Meta, LinkedIn and most of the industry call it retargeting. A remarketing agency and a retargeting agency sell the same service under two names.
How Much Does Remarketing Cost In Australia?
Most of our paid media management retainers, remarketing included, are priced by scope, with the ad budget paid to the platforms on top. Remarketing media is usually a small share of the total budget, because the audience is limited to people who have already visited your site or bought from you.
How Does Remarketing Work?
A tag on your website, such as the Google tag or the Meta pixel, adds visitors to audiences based on the pages they viewed or the actions they took. Campaigns then show those audiences ads on Google Search, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn, with people who already bought excluded and frequency caps limiting how often anyone sees an ad.
How Much Traffic Do You Need For Remarketing?
Google will serve a remarketing list once it has 100 active users in the last 30 days, and a LinkedIn audience needs 300 members. That's the minimum to run, not the size where display remarketing pays for itself. Low-traffic sites usually do better with customer lists and search remarketing while other channels grow the traffic.
How Long Should Someone Stay In A Remarketing Audience?
About as long as your customers take to decide: days for a cart abandoner, weeks or months for a considered purchase. Google allows website segments and Customer Match lists up to 540 days, Meta website audiences 180 days, or two years for purchases, and LinkedIn 365 days, but a window far longer than the buying cycle mostly reaches people who have moved on.
How Do You Stop Remarketing Ads Annoying People?
Cap how often each person sees the ads, keep membership windows short, exclude anyone who has already bought or enquired, and rotate the creative. Google supports frequency caps in Display and Video campaigns but not in Demand Gen, so where Demand Gen runs, exposure is controlled through audience size and exclusions instead.
Does Remarketing Still Work After iOS 14 And Cookie Changes?
Yes, with smaller lists. Google said in April 2025 that Chrome will keep its current third-party cookie choice rather than add a new prompt, but Safari, Firefox and Apple’s App Tracking Transparency still limit tracking. Conversions API, enhanced conversions, Consent Mode and customer lists now carry more of the audience.
What Is Dynamic Remarketing?
Dynamic remarketing shows each person the products they viewed on your site, pulled automatically from a product feed. On Google the feed comes from Merchant Center, and on Facebook and Instagram from a Meta catalogue running Advantage+ catalogue ads. It suits online stores with many products, and works best with recent buyers excluded.
Can You Retarget People Who Visited A Competitor’s Website?
No. Remarketing only reaches people who visited your own website, used your app, engaged with your content or are on your customer list. Ads can reach people interested in a competitor through custom segments built from searches or website addresses, but that's prospecting to a new audience, not remarketing.
How Do You Know Remarketing Actually Drove Sales?
Run a holdout test: keep part of the audience from seeing the ads and compare how often each group buys. The difference is what remarketing added. A Google Ads Conversion Lift study needs a budget of at least US$5,000, so smaller accounts use a manual holdout, and view-through conversions are never treated as proof on their own.
Let’s Look At Who Is Leaving Your Site
Tell us your monthly traffic, what a customer is worth and what you run today, and we'll come back with the audiences, windows and exclusions we would build.
Let’s knock out the competition..
