What is flooring SEO?
Flooring SEO is the work of getting a flooring business found when someone searches for timber, hybrid, vinyl, laminate or tile flooring on Google, Google Maps and AI assistants. It covers a page for each material you supply and each service you install, the Google Business Profile and showroom listing that decide whether you appear in the map pack, prices displayed the way the Australian Consumer Law requires, and tracking that ties a quote request back to the page that produced it.
- Usually moves first
- Your Google Business Profile and your showroom listing

- Quote requests and measure bookings, not rankings
Why flooring companies lose quotes online
Most flooring businesses we speak to have the same four problems, and none of them shows up in a rankings report.
Quote requests by source, last month
| Source, as entered when the quote was raised | Quotes |
|---|---|
| Builder or trade referral | 21 |
| Walk-in to the showroom | 14 |
| Repeat customer | 9 |
| “Found us online” | 34 |
| Not recorded | 26 |
| Total new patients | 104 |
-
One page for every floor you sell
Hybrid, vinyl, laminate, engineered timber, solid timber and tile are six different searches at six different prices. A single “our products” page competes for none of them properly.
-
Competing with Bunnings for a browser
The biggest flooring searches are product research, and they belong to the manufacturers and the big-box retailers. A local installer who only chases those terms is buying traffic from people who aren't ready to book a measure.
-
A rate that can't be bought at that rate
Advertising a square metre price that does not include underlay, removal, subfloor prep or installation is the exact conduct the ACCC calls out. It also loses the quote the moment the real number lands.
-
Quotes nobody can trace
Most of this work starts with a phone call or a measure booking. If those aren't tracked, the enquiry that came from a timber flooring page and the one that came from a builder look identical.
How people search for flooring in Australia
The searches Australians make every month, grouped by what the customer is trying to do, with the page or asset that wins each one.
| Search | Searches a month, Australia | What wins it |
|---|---|---|
| Choosing a floor | ||
| hybrid flooring | 25,000 | A hybrid page covering wear layers, water and warranty |
| vinyl flooring | 13,000 | A vinyl page that separates sheet, plank and hybrid |
| laminate flooring | 6,700 | A laminate page that's honest about where it suits |
| timber flooring | 4,300 | A timber page covering species, grade and finish |
| engineered timber flooring | 3,800 | An engineered page comparing it with solid timber |
| vinyl plank flooring | 3,600 | The same vinyl page, written for this phrasing |
| Hard surfaces | ||
| polished concrete | 3,000 | A polished concrete page, if you actually do it |
| floor tiles | 2,900 | A tile page, kept separate from your timber range |
| Looking for an installer | ||
| flooring near me | 2,600 | The Maps pack and a complete Business Profile |
| floor sanding and polishing | 900 | A sanding and recoating page for existing floors |
| timber floor installation | 250 | An installation page covering subfloor and lead time |
| Cost research | ||
| flooring installation cost | 50 | An honest price guide that explains what changes it |
The volume and the money are in different places, and that is the whole strategy for a flooring business. “Hybrid flooring” is 25,000 searches a month and costs US$0.80 a click, because most of those people are comparing products and many of them will buy at a hardware chain. “Flooring near me” is a tenth of that volume at US$1.40, and “timber floor installation” is 250 searches at US$1.60, the highest cost per click on the whole list. The market is telling you where the buyers are: the small terms. Compete for the big ones with genuinely useful material pages, and compete for the small ones like your quote book depends on it.
Average monthly searches and cost per click in Australia, from Ahrefs Keywords Explorer, pulled 12 September 2026. Searches with no reported volume are left out rather than estimated.
What our flooring SEO service includes
Six workstreams, run together, each one aimed at a booked measure rather than a ranking.
-
Google Business Profile and Maps
The showroom listing is what wins “flooring near me”. Categories that match what you actually supply and install, a service area that matches where you actually go, hours that match when the showroom is really open, and photographs of your own installations rather than manufacturer stock.
-
A page for each material you supply
Hybrid, vinyl, laminate, engineered timber, solid timber and tile. Each page covers what it suits, what it doesn't, how it behaves underfoot and with water, and what usually changes the price.
-
Prices displayed the way the law requires
If you publish a square metre rate, we make sure the page says plainly what it does and does not include. The ACCC is clear that a displayed price must be the total the customer will actually pay, and a rate that quietly excludes underlay or installation is the fastest way to lose both the quote and the trust.
-
Service area pages, done properly
Only for areas you genuinely install in, and each written about that area: the housing stock, the age of the subfloors, the kind of jobs that come out of it. We don't build sets of near-identical suburb pages. Search engines treat those as doorway pages.
-
AI search visibility
People now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Mode whether hybrid is better than laminate in a wet area and who installs timber floors near them. We structure your pages, schema and listings so those answers can find, trust and cite your business.
How AI search visibility works -
Call and measure tracking
Most of this work starts with a call or a measure booking. Calls, including missed calls, and form enquiries tracked in GA4, so you can see which material and which suburb are actually producing jobs.

Marketing inside the price display rules
Non-structural flooring has not been licensed in NSW since 16 September 2009, so unlike a plumber or an electrician you have no licence number to put in an ad. What you do have is a trade advertised in dollars per square metre, and that is where the Australian Consumer Law bites. The ACCC is explicit that a displayed price must be the total the customer will have to pay, including all unavoidable or pre-selected extras. This is where we draw the line.
What we won’t do
- Publish a square metre rate that can't actually be bought at that rate
- Leave underlay, removal, subfloor prep or installation out of a headline price without saying so
- Run a “was $89, now $49” comparison against a price the floor was never really sold at
- Leave a sale price up for months and keep calling it a sale
- Use manufacturer photography as though it were your own installation
What we do instead
- A supply price and an installed price, both stated, with what each one covers
- Every unavoidable extra named on the same page as the rate
- Comparison pricing only where the floor genuinely sold at the higher price
- A price guide that explains what actually moves a quote up or down
- Your own photographs, from floors you actually laid
We write flooring copy to the Australian Consumer Law and we build pricing pages the same way. It supports your own obligations as a business; it does not replace them, and it is not legal advice. ACCC guidance on price displays

How much flooring SEO costs in Australia
Published Australian agency figures put SEO for trades and home services at $1,500 to $2,500+ a month, and most Australian small businesses pay $1,500 to $3,500 a month. No regulator sets SEO prices in Australia, so these are market figures, not a quote.
-
$1,500 to $2,500+
a month, what Australian agencies publish for trades and home services
Published Australian agency rate card, verified September 2026
-
$1,500 to $3,500
a month, where most Australian small businesses sit
Two Australian SEO cost guides agree, verified September 2026
-
US$500 to US$1,000
a month, the most common agency retainer worldwide
What moves the price
- How many materials you want to compete for
- How many suburbs you cover
- How contested those suburbs are
- Whether you sell supply-only, installed, or both
- The state of your site, your Business Profile and your call tracking
Set the market figures against what a click costs to buy. “Timber floor installation” runs at US$1.60 a click and “flooring near me” at US$1.40, and that is for one click, not one measure booking. Organic visibility for the same searches is what you are paying to build.

Flooring SEO Questions
Do you lock flooring companies into contracts?
No. We work without lock-in contracts. If the work isn't paying its way for your business, you're free to stop.
How much does SEO for flooring companies cost in Australia?
Published Australian agency figures put SEO for trades and home services at $1,500 to $2,500+ a month, and most small businesses pay $1,500 to $3,500 a month (both verified September 2026). What moves the price is how many materials and suburbs you want to compete for, and whether you sell supply-only or installed. We scope each business before quoting.
Do flooring installers need a licence in NSW?
Non-structural flooring work has not been regulated under the Home Building Act 1989 since 16 September 2009, so it is no longer licensed by Building Commission NSW. Non-structural means a material permanently installed as the upper wearing surface of a floor that is not load-bearing. Load-bearing timber floors are different: NSW points those at the carpentry category, and carpentry needs a contractor licence for residential work valued over $5,000 in labour and materials including GST. Licensing also differs by state, so check your own before you put anything in an ad.
Can we advertise a price per square metre?
Yes, as long as the number is real. The ACCC requires a displayed price to include all unavoidable or pre-selected extra fees, and it treats a price that is not the total the customer will actually pay as misleading. In practice that means saying plainly whether your rate is supply-only or installed, and naming what is extra: underlay, removal of the old floor, subfloor preparation, stairs, trims. A page that does this well converts better anyway, because the person reading it stops wondering what the catch is.
Can we run a “was $89, now $49” sale on a floor?
Only if the floor genuinely sold at $89 for a reasonable period right before the sale started. The ACCC lists comparisons against a price the item was never really sold at, or was only sold at in very small numbers, as misleading. It also warns that a sale price left up for an extended period has effectively become the new selling price, so calling it a sale can itself mislead.
Should we have a separate page for hybrid and vinyl?
Yes. “Hybrid flooring” is 25,000 searches a month in Australia and “vinyl flooring” is 13,000, and they're different products with different wear layers, different water tolerance and different warranties. One page trying to answer both ranks properly for neither, and it doesn't help the customer decide.
How do we compete with the big flooring retailers?
Not on the product terms, at least not first. The largest searches are people researching a material, and those results are dominated by manufacturers and national retailers. What a local business can win is the layer underneath: installation, sanding and recoating, subfloor problems, and the suburbs you actually work in. Those searches are smaller and they cost the most per click, which is the market telling you where the buyers are.
Do we need a page for every suburb we cover?
No, and building one is a good way to get penalised. Near-identical suburb pages are treated as doorway pages. What works is a genuine page for each area you really install in, written about the housing stock, the subfloors you find there and the kind of jobs that come out of it.
Is Google Maps more important than our website?
For “flooring near me” the map pack is usually where the enquiry starts, so the Business Profile does a lot of the work. The site is what makes the profile convert: it's where someone checks that you stock the floor they want, that you cover their suburb, and what an installed job is likely to cost. They're two halves of the same thing, and neither works properly alone.
Can you get our business into ChatGPT and AI Mode answers?
Nobody can guarantee a mention in an AI answer, and it is worth being wary of anyone who does. What we can do is strengthen the signals those answers draw on: clear material and installation pages, accurate business listings, a genuine review history, structured data, and mentions on sites AI tools already trust.
