What is electrician SEO?

Electrician SEO is the work of getting an electrical business found when people nearby search for an electrician, an urgent repair or an upgrade like a switchboard or EV charger on Google, Google Maps and AI assistants. It covers the Google Business Profile and service area, a page for each job you want more of, reviews on Google, site speed, and tracking that ties each call back to a job booked in your job management software.

Why electrical businesses lose jobs online

Most electricians we speak to have the same four problems, and none of them shows up in a rankings report.

Job managementExample

Jobs booked by lead source

August · All electricians

Jobs booked by lead source, August · All electricians (Example)
Lead source, as entered by the officeJobs booked
Repeat customer 34
Referral from a builder or property manager 26
Lead marketplace 15
“Google” 24
Not recorded 39
Total new patients138
Example figures. The shape is the point: “Google” and “not recorded” say nothing about which search, which service page or which suburb sent the job.
  • Paying for every lead

Marketplace leads cost money whether or not you win the job, and Google Ads keyword data puts the average click on “emergency electrician” at over US$25.

  • The wrong jobs find you

Small call-outs come in, while switchboard upgrades, EV chargers and commercial work go to the business with a stronger page for each.

  • Gaps in your service area

You show up in the suburb you're based in, but not in the suburbs your vans drive through every day.

  • Calls nobody can trace

ServiceM8, simPRO, Tradify and AroFlo record the job. None of them can tell you which search, which page or which suburb sent it.

The searches Australians make every month, grouped by what the customer needs, with the page or asset that wins each one.

electrician hourly rate 480 A pricing page that explains how you charge

The three EV charger searches on this list add up to 7,380 a month, more than the three emergency electrician searches combined (4,090). EV charging is a search asset most electricians never build a proper page for.

What our electrician SEO service includes

Six workstreams, run together, each one aimed at a booked job rather than a ranking.

  • Google Business Profile and Maps

Set up as a service-area business if customers never visit you: the suburbs you cover, every service you offer, hours that match when you actually answer, and photos of your own jobs. Most “electrician near me” searches end on the profile, so it's where we start.

  • Service pages that sell the job

One strong page for each job you want more of: switchboard upgrades, EV chargers, safety switches, smoke alarms and lighting. Each states what the job involves, what drives the price and the licence you hold.

  • Service area pages, done properly

Only for suburbs you genuinely cover, and each written about that suburb: the housing, the jobs that come up there, and how far your vans travel. We don't build sets of near-identical suburb pages. Search engines treat those as doorway pages.

  • Reviews after every job

We help you ask customers for a Google review after the job and reply to each one well, the good and the bad. Reviews stay where customers write them.

  • AI search visibility

People now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Mode which electrician to call. We structure your pages, schema and listings so those answers can find, trust and cite your business.

    How AI search visibility works
  • Call and job tracking

Calls, including missed calls, and forms tracked in GA4, so the office can compare what search delivered against jobs booked in ServiceM8, simPRO, Tradify or AroFlo.

Marketing inside the electrical advertising rules

In NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia an electrical contractor’s advertising must carry the licence or registration number, and the Australian Consumer Law applies to every claim and price. The rules reach your website, your Business Profile and your ads. This is where we draw the line.

What we won’t publish

  • An ad, page or profile without your licence number where your state requires it
  • “24/7” or “emergency” unless someone really answers
  • A price that leaves out a fee the customer can't avoid
  • Fake reviews, or rewards only for positive ones
  • Service area pages for suburbs you don't cover

What we do instead

  • Your licence number on the site, the Business Profile and your ads
  • Hours on the profile that match when you actually answer
  • Prices stated as the total, with any unavoidable fee included
  • Reviews asked for after every job, whatever the customer thinks
  • Service area pages only where your vans really go

We write trade copy to the Australian Consumer Law and to your state’s licensing rules. It supports your own obligations as a licensed contractor; it does not replace them. NSW Government guide to building trade advertisements

How our electrician SEO process works

Five steps, in order. The pace is set by your business, your site and your service area, so the plan sets it rather than a template.

  1. Audit

Search Console, your Business Profile, the Maps pack across your service area, your site and your call tracking.

  2. Growth plan

What to fix and what to build, in order of the jobs each is likely to bring.

  3. Build

The Business Profile, service and service area pages, technical fixes and tracking.

  4. Compound

Content, reviews and authority, built on what the data shows is working.

  5. Report

    Against jobs booked, not rankings.

How much electrician SEO costs in Australia

Published Australian agency figures put SEO for trades and home services at $1,500 to $2,500+ a month, and most Australian small businesses pay $1,500 to $3,500 a month. No regulator sets SEO prices in Australia, so these are market figures, not a quote.

What moves the price

  • How many suburbs and regions you cover
  • How contested your area is
  • How many service pages need building or fixing
  • The state of your site and your call tracking
  • Whether Google Ads runs alongside

Set these next to the market figures: the useful question is how many extra jobs a month the work has to bring in to pay for itself.

Electrician SEO Questions

Do you lock electricians into contracts?

No. We work without lock-in contracts. If the work isn't paying its way for your business, you're free to stop.

What is local SEO for electricians?

Local SEO is the part of electrician SEO that decides whether you appear in the Google Maps pack and in “electrician near me” results across the suburbs you cover. It rests on a complete Google Business Profile, consistent business details across directories, reviews on Google, and pages that make clear where you work and which jobs you do.

How much does SEO for electricians cost in Australia?

Published Australian agency figures put SEO for trades and home services at $1,500 to $2,500+ a month, and most small businesses pay $1,500 to $3,500 a month (both verified September 2026). What moves the price is how many suburbs you cover, how contested they are, and how many service pages need building. We scope each business before quoting.

How long does electrician SEO take?

It depends on how contested your area is, the condition of your site and how much authority it has already earned. Business Profile and technical fixes tend to move first, while ranking for competitive searches in a capital city takes longer. Rather than quote an industry average, we set out what's realistic for your area and your site before you commit to anything.

Does my licence number need to be on my website?

In NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia, electrical contractors must show their licence or registration number in advertising, and the NSW Government says that includes the internet. We put it on your site, your Business Profile and your ads.

I work from my van, not a shopfront. Can I still show up on Google Maps?

Yes. Google lets businesses that travel to customers set up as a service-area business, listing the suburbs they cover and hiding a home address. The profile can still appear in the Maps pack for searches in those suburbs.

Can you track which searches turn into jobs?

Mostly, yes. We track calls, including missed ones, and form enquiries in GA4. ServiceM8, simPRO, Tradify and AroFlo don't receive search data, so we match what search delivered against the jobs your office books.

Do we need Google Ads as well?

Not always. SEO builds visibility you keep, while Google Ads buys it straight away for urgent work like power faults. Many electricians run both. The same consumer law applies to ads, so we write both to the same standard.

Can you get our business into ChatGPT and AI Mode answers?

Nobody can guarantee a mention in an AI answer, and it is worth being wary of anyone who does. What we can do is strengthen the signals those answers draw on: clear service pages, accurate business listings, reviews on Google, structured data, and mentions on sites AI tools already trust.

Can we focus SEO on particular electrical jobs?

Yes. We plan around the work your business wants and can deliver, such as switchboard upgrades, EV charger installations or lighting, rather than treating every electrician search as equally useful. Dedicated service pages explain the job and the areas you cover. We review the resulting enquiries and booked work with you to see whether the campaign is attracting that mix.
