What is carpet cleaning SEO?
Carpet cleaning SEO is the work of getting a cleaning business found when someone searches for carpet, couch, rug, mattress or end of lease cleaning on Google, Google Maps and AI assistants. It covers a page for each service you offer, the Google Business Profile that decides whether you appear in the map pack, reviews handled the way the Australian Consumer Law requires, and tracking that ties a booking back to the page that produced it.
- Usually moves first
- Your Google Business Profile and reviews
- Compounds
- A page for each service, in each area you cover
- Measured by
- Booked jobs, not rankings
Why carpet cleaners lose jobs online
Most cleaning businesses we speak to have the same four problems, and none of them shows up in a rankings report.
Jobs by source, last month
| Source, as entered when the job was booked | Jobs |
|---|---|
| Repeat customer | 24 |
| Referral | 17 |
| Real estate agent | 11 |
| “Google” | 38 |
| Not recorded | 29 |
| Total new patients | 119 |
-
One page for six different jobs
Carpet, couch, rug, mattress, tile and end of lease are six different searches with six different prices. A single “our services” page competes for none of them properly.
-
A Business Profile doing the heavy lifting alone
For a mobile service the map pack is most of the demand, and a profile with the wrong categories, a vague service area and a thin review history quietly loses to the business next suburb over.
-
Reviews handled the way the law does not allow
Asking only happy customers, offering a discount without saying so, or quietly hiding a bad review are all conduct the ACCC has taken action on. It is also the fastest way to lose a Business Profile.
-
Jobs nobody can trace
Most cleaning businesses book by phone. If a call isn't tracked, the enquiry that came from a service page and the one that came from a repeat customer look identical.
How people search for carpet cleaning in Australia
The searches Australians make every month, grouped by what the customer is trying to do, with the page or asset that wins each one.
| Search | Searches a month, Australia | What wins it |
|---|---|---|
| The core service | ||
| carpet cleaning | 60,500 | Your homepage, built around the areas you cover |
| steam cleaning carpet | 12,100 | A page explaining the method and when it suits |
| carpet cleaning near me | 6,600 | The Maps pack and a complete Business Profile |
| carpet steam cleaning | 2,900 | The same method page, written for this phrasing |
| Everything else you clean | ||
| couch cleaning | 6,600 | An upholstery page with what you can and can't treat |
| mattress cleaning | 3,600 | A mattress page covering stains, odour and dust mites |
| rug cleaning | 2,400 | A rug page that names the fibres you handle |
| tile and grout cleaning | 1,600 | A hard floor page, kept separate from carpet |
| End of lease | ||
| bond cleaning | 4,400 | A bond clean page that says exactly what's included |
| end of lease cleaning | 3,600 | The same page, written for this phrasing |
| end of lease carpet cleaning | 390 | A page aimed at the carpet half of the job |
| Cost research | ||
| carpet cleaning cost | 1,300 | An honest price guide that explains what changes it |
| carpet cleaning prices | 880 | The same page, written for this phrasing |
The volume is in “carpet cleaning” and the money is beside it. End of lease is the clearest example: “end of lease carpet cleaning” gets only 390 searches a month and costs US$10.90 a click to buy, more than “carpet cleaning near me” at US$9.78 on seventeen times the volume, because the person searching it has a bond riding on the result and a date they cannot move. A business that only competes for the big term leaves the urgent jobs to whoever built a page for them.
Average monthly Google searches and cost per click in Australia, from Google Ads keyword data, pulled 12 September 2026. Searches with no reported volume are left out rather than estimated.
What our carpet cleaning SEO service includes
Six workstreams, run together, each one aimed at a booked job rather than a ranking.
-
Google Business Profile and Maps
For a mobile service this is most of the demand. Categories that match what you actually clean, a service area that matches where you actually go, hours that match when someone really answers, and photographs of your own work rather than stock.
-
A page for each service you offer
Carpet, upholstery, rugs, mattresses, tile and grout, and end of lease. Each page sets out the method, what it suits, what it won't fix, and what usually changes the price.
-
A review process that stays inside the law
A routine for asking every customer at the same point, an honest reply to the reviews you would rather not have, and no incentives unless they're offered to everyone and disclosed. Reviews are the strongest signal you own and the easiest to get wrong.
-
Service area pages, done properly
Only for areas you genuinely cover, and each written about that area: the housing, the rental market, the kind of jobs that come out of it. We don't build sets of near-identical suburb pages. Search engines treat those as doorway pages.
-
AI search visibility
People now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Mode who cleans carpets in their area and whether steam cleaning will shift a stain. We structure your pages, schema and listings so those answers can find, trust and cite your business.
How AI search visibility works -
Call and booking tracking
Most of this work is booked by phone. Calls, including missed calls, and form enquiries tracked in GA4, so you can see which service and which suburb are actually producing jobs.

Marketing inside the online review rules
Carpet cleaning is not a licensed trade, so there is no licence number to display. What there is instead is the Australian Consumer Law, and for a business chosen on its reviews that is where the real exposure sits. The ACCC has penalised businesses for fake testimonials, for letting businesses write their own reviews, and for editing and withholding the bad ones. This is where we draw the line.
What we won’t do
- Write, buy or arrange a review for your business
- Ask only the customers we expect to say something good
- Offer a discount for a review without disclosing it, or offer it only for a positive one
- Quietly bury or edit a negative review
- Publish before and after photographs that aren't of your own work
What we do instead
- One review request, sent to every customer at the same point in the job
- An honest, public reply to the reviews you would rather not have
- Any incentive offered regardless of what the review says, and disclosed
- Your own before and after photographs, from jobs you actually did
- Service area pages only where you really go
We write cleaning copy to the Australian Consumer Law and we run review requests the same way. It supports your own obligations as a business; it does not replace them, and it is not legal advice. ACCC guidance on online reviews

How much carpet cleaning SEO costs in Australia
Published Australian agency figures put SEO for trades and home services at $1,500 to $2,500+ a month, and most Australian small businesses pay $1,500 to $3,500 a month. No regulator sets SEO prices in Australia, so these are market figures, not a quote.
-

a month, what Australian agencies publish for trades and home services

-
$1,500 to $3,500
a month, where most Australian small businesses sit
Two Australian SEO cost guides agree, verified September 2026
-
US$500 to US$1,000
a month, the most common agency retainer worldwide
What moves the price
- How many services you want to compete for
- How many suburbs you cover
- How contested those suburbs are
- The state of your Business Profile and your review history
- The state of your site and your call tracking
Set the market figures against what a click costs to buy. “End of lease carpet cleaning” runs at US$10.90 a click and “bond cleaning” at US$11.42, and that is for one click, not one booking. Organic visibility for the same searches is what you are paying to build.

Carpet Cleaning SEO Questions
Do you lock carpet cleaners into contracts?
No. We work without lock-in contracts. If the work isn't paying its way for your business, you're free to stop.
How much does SEO for carpet cleaners cost in Australia?
Published Australian agency figures put SEO for trades and home services at $1,500 to $2,500+ a month, and most small businesses pay $1,500 to $3,500 a month (both verified September 2026). What moves the price is how many services and suburbs you want to compete for, and the state of your Business Profile. We scope each business before quoting.
Is Google Maps more important than my website?
For a mobile service, the map pack is usually where most of the enquiries start, so the Business Profile does a lot of the work. The site is what makes the profile convert: it's where someone checks that you clean upholstery, that you cover their suburb, and what a job is likely to cost. They're two halves of the same thing, and neither works properly alone.
Can we offer a discount in exchange for a review?
Only carefully. The ACCC is clear that an incentive has to be offered regardless of whether the review turns out positive or negative, and that the incentive has to be clearly disclosed. An offer that only rewards good reviews, or one nobody is told about, is the conduct it has taken action on. In practice a simple, consistent request sent to every customer works better anyway.
What should we do about a bad review?
Reply to it, publicly and without arguing. Quietly removing or editing negative reviews is conduct the ACCC has penalised, and a review history with nothing but five stars reads as managed. A calm reply that explains what happened does more for the next reader than the review itself costs you.
Do we need a separate page for couch and mattress cleaning?
Yes, if you want the work. “Couch cleaning” and “mattress cleaning” are 6,600 and 3,600 searches a month in their own right, and neither is answered by a line on a carpet page. Each one deserves a page that explains the method, what it suits and what it won't fix.
Do we need a page for every suburb we cover?
No, and building one is a good way to get penalised. Near-identical suburb pages are treated as doorway pages. What works is a genuine page for each area you really cover, written about the housing, the rental market and the kind of jobs that come out of it.
Is end of lease work worth chasing?
It is worth being deliberate about. The volumes look smaller than the main terms, but the cost per click does not: “bond cleaning” runs at US$11.42 and “end of lease carpet cleaning” at US$10.90, because the person searching has a bond at stake and a fixed date. If you take that work, it deserves its own page setting out exactly what is included.
Do we need Google Ads as well?
Sometimes. SEO builds visibility you keep, while Google Ads buys it immediately, which can be useful in a quiet month or when you move into a new area. The same consumer law applies to ads, so we write both to the same standard.
Can you get our business into ChatGPT and AI Mode answers?
Nobody can guarantee a mention in an AI answer, and it is worth being wary of anyone who does. What we can do is strengthen the signals those answers draw on: clear service pages, accurate business listings, a genuine review history, structured data, and mentions on sites AI tools already trust.
